This website is a developmental blog for a long form narrative piece that I am building. Currently it is three small works that build off each other.

I currently write it as prose but I believe it will be a theater piece or a collection of theater pieces. On this website I am primarily interested in creating an archival record of how the work develops over time and how my own ideas and attempts to communicate the story evolve. The website is a sort of living notebook/digital workshop type space.

The work is inspired heavily by the gothic tradition and unfolds over three parts, each with a different narrator. All three deal in some way with the gendered relationship to labour in its many forms, how hegemonic power structures shape intimate relationships, and the cost of complicity in oppression.

I approach this work from the perspective of intersectional feminism. My work uses gender presentation to make a structural argument that de-familiarizes the patriarchal structures that make invisible the physical, emotional, and mental labour done by women in western society.

About the Author

I am a 28 year old writer, designer, and scholar in Ontario, Canada. Previously I lived in southern Alberta and northern British Columbia in many different small towns. I am autistic and also a woman. I was diagnosed late and so I am still figuring out how the autism interacts with my own identity. This probably informs how I write but I don’t yet have language for the specifics.

While growing up I wrote a lot of fan-fiction. Mostly Hunger Games, Twilight, Boy band stuff. I had a lot of Wattpad followers (lol).

My graduate training is in the arts/humanities (dramaturgy, musicology). When I am not working on my PhD, I frequently do design work for theater and opera. Mostly props but also some set design and costume work. I have also assistant directed and stage managed.
